Hi everyone:
This coming Tuesday, 09-12-2006, starting at 9:00
am, the Butte County Board of Supervisors will
consider the following items which are of critical
importance to the County’s efforts to update our
General Plan & Zoning Ordinance:
A) Shortly after 9:00 am, a request by the
Department of Development Services for the Board to
provide direction regarding a longstanding issue in
the County; Program 2.2 of the Agriculture Element
of the General Plan. Specific issues to be discussed
will include whether or not the Program applies
inside of community boundaries & Spheres of
Influence, whether its focus should be at and/or
outside of community boundaries & Spheres of
Influence or whether it applies in all
unincorporated areas of the county. In essence, the
question is, "Where does the 300' setback from new
development to agriculture apply?" (starting at 9:00
am).
B) The General Plan Subcommittee and Development
Services staff are recommending the appointment of
members of the public to the General Plan Update
Citizens Advisory Committee (heard after item A
above).
C) The General Plan Subcommittee and Development
Services staff are recommending that Butte County
sign a contract with DC&E to draft/coordinate the
General Plan Update, new Zoning Ordinance and EIR
(this item to be heard at 1:00 pm).
The public is invited to participate in these
discussions to be held at the Butte County Board
Chambers in Oroville on Tuesday, September 12, 2006.
The documents are posted for your review at

and code that will chart Butte County’s future.
