Hi everyone:
Thanks to all of you for your
assistance to date on Butte County General Plan
2030. With your participation, we recently completed
Workshop Series #1 (Existing Conditions and Issues
Identification) with our Board of Supervisors on May
8th, 2007. It was an excellent review and discussion
of the Assets and Issues of Butte County, as well as
the workshop series process itself. Through the
process, we gathered 213 Assets and 413 Issues. For
a recap, you can visit our eBinder at
http://www.buttegeneralplan.net/ebinder
and view the information for this meeting date.
What’s next? On Thursday, May
17th at 6 pm, we begin Workshop Series #2 –
Alternatives Development. This is a critical part of
the process where we build upon the identified
Assets/Issues to create a range of alternatives. In
fact, we had planned 3 Workshop Series to accomplish
this, but since the work on the 1st Workshop Series
was so productive, we intend to compress Series 2
and 3 together. This will allow us to provide for
the creation of three alternatives, prior to the
selection of a ‘Preferred Alternative’ (Workshop
Series #4). You might want to review the
Tasks/Workshop Series process page at
http://www.buttegeneralplan.net/tasks
.
Have we been in your community
lately? Butte County Department of Development
Services staff has held Area Wide and Community
meetings to create a connection with citizens about
their communities and Butte County General Plan
2030. So far, we’ve held 9 meetings in various parts
of the county. To get a sense of these meetings, you
can visit
http://www.buttegeneralplan.net/meetings.asp
to view meeting summaries and photos.
It has been wonderful to
experience county residents embrace the process. We
look forward to your continued involvement as we
move our journey out to the ‘open sea’
and engage in the excellent
public process of debate about important issues
surrounding Butte County General Plan 2030.
