Hi Everyone:
In our efforts to continue
moving forward with Butte County General Plan 2030,
we had an excellent meeting with our Citizens
Advisory Committee (CAC) on 10-02-2008. At this
meeting, we took the next steps toward the
development of Goals and Policies for Urban Growth
Boundaries, County Character, New Development &
Housing, Regional & Local Coordination, Cultural
Resources & Tribal Coordination, Community Health &
Safety and Noise. What’s next? We have our next CAC
meeting THIS Thursday, October 09, 2008 at Butte
College. Here’s how you can get ready for that
meeting:
Thursday, October 9,
2008 CAC Meeting
The agenda and other key
documents for the October 9th CAC Meeting are posted
on our General Plan 2030 website at
http://www.buttegeneralplan.net
. This will be the second of three CAC meetings on
Goals and Policies Development.
The October 9th meeting will
address three policy topic areas:
- Economic Development
- Agriculture
- Water Resources
Jamison Watts of the Northern
California Regional Land Trust will also give a
presentation on Agricultural Land Protection in
Butte County.
Key documents to review for
the meeting are posted at the Butte County General
Plan 2030 website and include the following:
The meeting will start at 5 pm at
the Butte College Cafeteria. Dinner will be served
at 4:45 pm. The third and final CAC meeting in this
meeting series will be held the following Thursday,
October 16.
October 23 Great Valley
Center Conference in Chico
Many of us from Butte County
and our CAC will be attending the Great Valley
Center’s Sacramento Valley Forum Conference on
"Mapping our Future". The conference will take place
Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 8 am
–
3 pm at the Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico. The
program includes presentations on:
- Strategies for
Rural-Urban Connections (Mike McKeever, SACOG)
- What Blueprint Planning
Will Mean for the Sacramento Valley (Glenn and
Shasta County Planning Agencies)
- Mapping Natural and
Cultural Assets (California Dept. of Water
Resources and National Park Services)
