HOUSING ELEMENT ADOPTION

The Butte County Board of Supervisors and the
Planning Commission will hold a Special Meeting
for the consideration of an amendment to the
Butte County General Plan consisting of the
Adoption of a new Housing Element for Butte
County and related environmental documentation.

Tuesday, August 25, 2009 starting at 1:30 pm at
the Butte County Board of Supervisors Chambers,
25 County Center Drive, Oroville.
This meeting is open to the public who are
encouraged to attend and provide comment.
The purpose of the Housing Element is to address
the housing needs of the residents of the
Unincorporated Area of Butte County through June
30, 2014. The Housing Element consists of two
documents, the
Housing Needs
Assessment, which analyzes the needs
of residents of the Unincorporated Area through
the five-year planning period and the
Housing Policy
document, which establishes policies
and program to help Butte County meet the needs
identified in the Housing Needs Assessment.
The Draft Housing Element has undergone a
mandatory 60-day review with the State
Department of Housing and Community Development
(HCD). The purpose of this meeting is to review
HCD’s comments and the responses made by staff
in the form of changes to the Housing Element,
which has previously undergone review by the
public and the Butte County General Plan 2030
Citizens Advisory Committee.
Development Services staff is recommending that
the Planning Commission recommend the adoption
of the new Housing Element, and that the Board
of Supervisors adopt the new Housing Element for
Butte County.
