Hi everyone:

A reminder concerning an upcoming Butte County General Plan 2030 Study Session focused on Housing:

Butte County will hold a Joint Board of Supervisors & Planning Commission meeting on developing a new Housing Element for Butte County General Plan 2030, the new General Plan being developed for Butte County on Friday, May 29, 2009 from 9:00 am Noon at the at the Southside Community Center, 2959 Wyandotte Avenue, Oroville. This meeting is open to the public who are encouraged to attend and provide comment. All parties and agencies interested in Butte County General Plan 2030 Housing Policy are encouraged to attend and provide comment.

At this Special Study Session, County staff and consultants will provide an overview of State Housing Element requirements and the process for updating the Housing Element. Consultants will then make a presentation on the draft Housing Needs Assessment prepared to support the Housing Element Update process, as well as its implications for revisions to the existing Butte County Housing Element. The Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission will be reviewing the draft Housing Needs Assessment and a Preliminary Housing Element Update. These documents are available for review via the County's General Plan 2030 website, http://www.buttegeneralplan.net . The Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission will also review input from the Housing Element Public Workshop held on March 26, 2009, and the Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting held on April 16, 2009.

After receiving direction from the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors, the County will prepare an updated Draft Housing Element Update to submit to the State Department of Housing and Community Development for review in compliance with State law. The Final Housing Element is expected to be adopted by the Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission at a public hearing on August 25, 2009.
