Hi everyone:
A reminder concerning an
upcoming Butte County General Plan 2030 Study
Session focused on Housing:
Butte County will hold a Joint
Board of Supervisors & Planning Commission meeting
on developing a new Housing Element for Butte County
General Plan 2030, the new General Plan being
developed for Butte County on Friday, May 29, 2009
from 9:00 am

Noon at the at the Southside Community Center, 2959
Wyandotte Avenue, Oroville. This meeting is open to
the public who are encouraged to attend and provide
comment. All parties and agencies interested in
Butte County General Plan 2030 Housing Policy are
encouraged to attend and provide comment.
At this Special Study Session,
County staff and consultants will provide an
overview of State Housing Element requirements and
the process for updating the Housing Element.
Consultants will then make a presentation on the
draft Housing Needs Assessment prepared to support
the Housing Element Update process, as well as its
implications for revisions to the existing Butte
County Housing Element. The Board of Supervisors and
Planning Commission will be reviewing the draft
Housing Needs Assessment and a Preliminary Housing
Element Update. These documents are available for
review via the County's General Plan 2030 website,
http://www.buttegeneralplan.net
. The Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission
will also review input from the Housing Element
Public Workshop held on March 26, 2009, and the
Citizens Advisory Committee Meeting held on April
16, 2009.
After receiving direction from
the Planning Commission and the Board of
Supervisors, the County will prepare an updated
Draft Housing Element Update to submit to the State
Department of Housing and Community Development for
review in compliance with State law. The Final
Housing Element is expected to be adopted by the
Board of Supervisors and Planning Commission at a
public hearing on August 25, 2009.
