These
photos were taken by members of Butte County’s General Plan
2030 Citizen Advisory Committee and were part of an exercise
completed at the Committee’s second Kick-off meeting on
December 7, 2006. This exercise was designed to compliment
the Committee’s discussion of the Draft Framework of Guiding
Principles. The Committee was divided into 6 groups that
reviewed approximately 240 photos. Each group narrowed the
selection down to 10 - 12 photos apiece resulting in
approximately 60 photos that showed each group’s likes and
dislikes. These choices were then put into a slide show and
each group selected a spokesperson that provided a narrative
description of the photos. The Committee heard narratives
from each of the six groups about various aspects of Butte
County. The text accompanying each photo is reflective of
the comments made by the group. The photos and text should
not be taken out of the context in which they were used.
The purpose of this exercise was to begin the process
necessary to comment on the Guiding Principles, to learn
more about the Committee’s values, and to prepare the
Committee and staff for discussions and decisions that will
take place in future General Plan 2030 Public Workshops and
meetings. Group 1
