These maps
are in a PDF file format, and can be opened with the Adobe
Acrobat Reader. Each of these maps allows you to “zoom” in
on specific areas to show more detail. If you are
interested in specific areas it is recommended that you open
the map for that area. If you want the very best resolution
to view close-in detail, Countywide Map #1 should be used,
although it is a larger file and will take longer to
download.
It is
important to note that these exhibits show General Plan
designations and not Zoning Districts. The General Plan
directs where a variety of land uses will be used throughout
the county. Specific Zoning Districts are required to be
consistent with the General Plan designations, but show more
specific detail concerning minimum parcel sizes, allowed
land uses, and conditionally allowed uses. It is also
important to note that the Butte County General Plan process
is still underway and the final General Plan has not been
adopted by the Board of Supervisors, which is scheduled for
late 2010.
The Deer
Herd Overlay Map was also approved by the Board of
Supervisors on April 14, 2009. This map is provided to show
County areas where the Deer Herd Overlay will be applied and
is part of the General Plan Land Use Map. Areas within the
Deer Herd General Plan Overlay will be zoned at the
appropriate 20-acre (Winter Range) or 40-acre (Critical
Winter Range) minimum parcel size.
Two
important series of meetings are coming up that pertain to
both the Draft Butte County General Plan 2030 and the new
Zoning Ordinance. A public Draft of Butte County General
Plan 2030 will be released in August of 2009. This Public
Draft represents the culmination of over 2.5 years of work
under the Butte County General Plan 2030 process. A series
of meetings (Meeting Series #7, tentatively scheduled from
September 2009 through February 2010) will take place that
will include a Public Workshop, Citizens Advisory Committee
meetings, and Special Meetings with the Planning Commission
and Board of Supervisors will be devoted to the review and
approval of the Draft General Plan 2030. Another series of
meetings (Meeting Series #8, tentatively scheduled from
November 2009 through March 2010) will be devoted to the
review and approval of the Butte County Zoning Ordinance. A
public Draft of the new Zoning Ordinance will also be
available in August of 2009.
There are
many ways to stay involved in this process. You may sign up
to receive email updates on this website. Development
Services staff will keep you apprised of the specific
meeting dates, times and locations for all of the meetings
scheduled under Butte County General Plan 2030. We welcome
public attendance at all of these meetings and encourage you
to review all of the material and make comments that will be
provided to the Citizens Advisory Committee, Planning
Commission and Board of Supervisors. The Butte County
General Plan 2030 website is updated with new information as
it becomes available and is a great resource for anyone
wishing to learn more about the process and to stay
involved.
